Jennifer Goodwin, MBA, founded the Catherine J. Malatesta Foundation in 2018 as a means of raising funds in the fight against sarcoma and pediatric cancer and as a way to educate others about the dangers of sarcoma. Jennifer became invested in the fight against sarcoma cancer after the 2015 death of her 16-year-old daughter, Catherine, from Epithelioid Sarcoma (ES). Jand to remember her beloved daughter, Catherine. Jennifer joined the Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA) Board of Directors in December 2018 where she currently serves on the Executive Board as Secretary. Jennifer is a co-author on a white paper about ES published in the Journal of Oncology Navigation and Survivorship. After many years working in corporate banking and education, Jennifer works in community relations and resource development for the Arlington Boys & Girls Club.
Gregg Malatesta is Catherine Malatesta’s Dad and serves as Treasurer of the Board and Trustee of the Catherine J. Malatesta Foundation. He currently is Vice President of Sales at Welch’s Food Inc. and a graduate of Babson College. Gregg serves on the Advisory Board of The Children’s Room in Arlington, MA and is a Member of the Corporation of the Arlington Boys & Girls Club. He is married to his wife Jennifer of 30 years and has two sons, Drew and Reid. In his spare time Gregg enjoys watching his sons play hockey and loves to golf.
David Goodwin has been the Secretary of the Board of the Catherine J. Malatesta Foundation since 2018. He is the uncle and godfather of Catherine Malatesta. David is a graduate of Providence College and spent his career at MIT and MIT Lincoln Labs. In retirement he chases after his beautiful labs and enjoys spending time on the Cape with his wife Nancy and two sons, Taylor and Connor.
Drew Malatesta, is Catherine’s brother and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2020. He is currently an economics major at Middlebury College. Drew has worked on many of the a CATpella Festivals to Belt Out Cancer on planning and volunteer recruitment and management committees. Drew has been an active participant on the planning committee for the 5KforCat. This past April he participated on the team ‘CATch Me If You Can’ at the inaugural Race to Cure Sarcoma in Boston all in memory of his beloved sister. Drew plays hockey and loves to golf in his spare time.
Danny Hallice is a member of the Board of Directors of the Catherine J. Malatesta Foundation since 2019. He is a 2020 graduate of Providence College and works at Bain Capital Credit. Danny met Catherine in middle school and they remained close during their time together in the Arlington public schools. Danny and Catherine taught religious education together at Saint Agnes Parish. Danny recently ran the Boston Marathon for The Children’s Room in Catherine’s memory as well as participated on the team ‘CATch Me If You Can’ at the inaugural Race to Cure Sarcoma in Boston.
Emma Schambers, MBA is a member of the Board of Directors of the Catherine J. Malatesta Foundation since 2019. She is a 2020 graduate of Syracuse University and works at Smart Green Solar in Providence Rhode Island. Emma met Catherine when they were campers at YMCA Camp Coniston in Grantham, NH and became very close friends. After Catherine died Emma wore Catherine’s prom dress to her prom and received national attention for the incredible act of love. Since then, Emma has devoted much time to supporting sarcoma research and awareness. Emma served on the Gala Committee for the Sarcoma Foundation of America’s 2023 Stand Up to Sarcoma Gala and is running the Marine Corp. Marathon in October for the Sarcoma Foundation of America in Catherine’s memory.
